Abstract

The fixed asset investments for the Chinese electronic information industry declined from 34.1% in 2004 to 21.7% in 2005. The electronic component sector was the fastest growing investment item in 2005, up 5% year-on-year. Of the total investment, the majority was for companies located in China's Jiangsu province, where the investment growth was the highest. The Chinese PC shipment volume continued rising from 2000 to 2005 and is estimated at 10.3 million units in 2006. Eastern China accounted for approximately 55% share of the Chinese PC shipment, followed by Southern China's 33.8%. Chinese PC export volume and value also increased steadily from 2003 to 2005. The Chinese desktop PC shipment volume is estimated at 43 million units in 2006 while the Chinese notebook PC shipment volume is estimated at 59 million units in 2006.
